South Kaibab Trail to Ooh Aah Point, Grand Canyon

The South Kaibab Trail to Ooh Aah Point is about a 2-mile round-trip hike that takes you into the canyon. This is a moderate hike, with the challenging part coming at the end as you hike back up some steep switchbacks.

Crampons are recommended for hiking during winter. We wore them and they made icy steep trail sections feel safe.

It was fairly cold when we were on this hike, so there wasn't too much traffic. With better weather during busy season, this would be a heavily trafficked trail shared with mules and horses.
