The Chisos Basin Campground in Big Bend is home to 60 no hook-up campsites. There are clean bathrooms and potable water. Many sites have covered picnic tables. The closest public showers are located at the Rio Grande Village Store, about 30 miles away.
This is a stunning campground with gorgeous views, dramatic rocky cliffs and convenient access to many hiking trails. It's a quiet location with generator usage limited to certain hours and only in designated sites.
Chisos Basin CG is popular. Reservations are recommended, particularly in the peak season running from Nov. 15-April 15.
We extended our stay in Big Bend just to have an extra night at this gem of a campground. How is it that we didn't take any pics?!
